So far, the strategies I’ve implemented to boost my Alexa Traffic Rank has been very effective. In as short as 3 months, I managed to break the Alexa Top 100K. And for the past weeks, my Alexa Traffic Rank has been consistently going down. Hopefully, I will be able to break the Alexa Top 50K before the end of next month.

Alexa Toolbar and Alexa Traffic Rank

Alexa, the world’s first toolbar, offers the unique ability to update in real-time to offer its users information about the sites they visit. It also include features such as pop-up blocking, tell a friend and related links. More importantly, Alexa provides advertisers with a rough estimate of a website’s traffic through its ranking system. Currently, Yahoo! is ranked number 1 by Alexa, which means it receives the highest number of visits from Alexa Toolbar users.

Although Alexa Traffic Rank is not accurate, majority of advertisers still consider it important. Hence, if you like to win the favor of these advertisers, you should have a good (the lower the rank, the better) Alexa Traffic Rank.

How Does Alexa Ranks Websites?

Alexa ranks websites base on the traffic information gathered from all Alexa tool bar users. Therefore, visits to your blog from non-Alexa users will not help boost your rank. A key to boosting your Alexa Traffic Rank is to know who use the Alexa Toolbar and attract them to visit your blog.

Who Are The Users of Alexa Toolbar?

Apparently, the Alexa Toolbar is used by people who consider the Alexa Traffic Rank important. Alexa Toolbar users are usually webmasters, online entrepereneurs and bloggers. This explains why Alexa Traffic Rank is skewed to blogging related websites.

Hang-out Places of Webmasters, Online Entrepreneurs and Bloggers

Aside from being great sources of traffic, Digital Point Forum and Entrecard are VERY USEFUL and EFFECTIVE tools that can help you boost your Alexa Traffic Rank provided you know how to use them for your advantage without being abusive.

Every week since I started being active at Digital Point Forum, I noticed that my Alexa Traffic Rank is consistently falling. This is certainly because most of the members of DP are webmasters, online entrepreneurs and bloggers. Things got even better when I started to maximize the use of Entrecard. By maximize I meant, networking with the Entrecard users, advertising on their blogs, and dropping my Entrecard on theirs. In less than two weeks, my Alexa Traffic Rank fell by more than 10 points.

Here are some practical tips to help you when using Digital Point Forum to generate more traffic to your blog and boost your Alexa Traffic Rank.

  1. Read Digital Point’s Terms of Service.
  2. When you’ve reached enough number of post and you’re allowed to use your signature, make sure to have one and use it in all your posts.
  3. Use relevant and descriptive anchor text.
  4. Start discussions related to your posts and provide a link to it. Check these examples; thread 1, thread 2 and thread 3.
  5. Make sure to check your threads regularly and respond to questions. Doing this will place your thread on top of all the other threads allowing it more exposure.
  6. Join other threads, especially the new ones. As much as possible, I try to be the first to reply to new threads as my signature will be given more visibility. Being the 100th person to leave your response on a thread reduces your chances of getting noticed.

Here are some useful tips to help you maximize the benefits of using Entrecard.

  1. If you want to take full advantage of Entrecard, drop your Entrecard consistently. The more blogs you visit to drop your card, the better the result.
  2. Drop your Entrecard to blogs relevant to yours.
  3. Use the credits you earned to advertise on other blogs. Advertise wisely. There are some blogs with overpriced advertisement cost that may not bring you desired traffic.
  4. When visiting other blogs to drop your Entrecard, try to read their posts and leave your comments.

I’m still on the process of experimenting with Entrecard and I shall be making a full report of my finding in my future post. Watch out for that!

Where else do bloggers, webmasters and online entrepreneurs hang-out? Share it through the comment.

Thank you for your time. Happy blogging everyone!  :D
